Escort Service Spam

    Question

  • Once again the VB forum is full of spam for escort services.

  • You can report spam in this sticky thread at the top of this forum: Report Spam Here 13.

And I request that users be banned using one of the forms linked on this page:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/5041.how-to-ban-or-report-a-technet-or-msdn-user-account.aspx

I include a link to the user's profile activity, since that is easier than links to the spam itself.

  • This particular spam has been going on for several months, yet there is no fix.  Most of the regulars report the spam as it happens, but at some point it seems that the forum should have a filter.

  • I will say the problem seems to always be most severe on Saturdays. Perhaps the spammers think the forum administrators will not be paying attention. And of course, notice the mis-spellings, unusual capitalization and concatentations, all attempts to fool the filters.

I also note that I see many more spam threads deleted by spam filters now. I check for deleted threads in the forums I moderate because there are still occasional false positives. Always the false positives are new users seeking an answer. They have no idea what happened and don't understand why their account should require "verification". We will always have spam get through, unless we have unacceptable levels of false positives.
