Access CRM on Internet? RRS feed

    Hi,

     

    I am running MS CRM 3 rollup 2 in my organization. We've 3 major locations in different cities. How can i give internet access to CRM to my remote users? can anyone help me through the process?

  • There are a number of things to consider:

     

    1) You need to define an external DNS name for your CRM (e.g. crm.domain.com) for your remote users.

    2) The name needs to be resolvable to your CRM server - this will require updating the DNS records for your external domain

    3) The CRM web-site will need to be configured to respond to the new name by defining a host header in IIS

    4) The firewall/router or other device that you use at the office where the CRM server is located will need to allow incoming web requests to your CRM server. Some configuration work may be needed.

     

    I think that this list is everything but there may be other items that I've forgotten.

  • I do agree with Kadir regarding how you can setup hosted CRM solution to access to other user.

     

    1. IIS should have public IP and hosted domain like http://hostserver/crm/  it should resolve address with DNS etc.

     

    It is similar as you will be able to add websites hosted on the IIS.

    CRM 4.0 have truely hosted features which I recomend to upgrade and use that.
