WHS will not stream media to a dnla tv? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a new Samsung LE40C750R2KXXU LED/3D TV which has DNLA and can view all of my house pc’s as well as my WHS. Unfortunately, unlike the pc’s, the Home server will not allow the TV to ‘play’ any of the avi’s, mpeg’s, mp3, jpg’s etc – even though it displays the file names in folders. Is there some sort of setting I need to change to allow me to e.g. stream a video from my home server?

  • I have a very similar setup and my Samsung TV would see the mpeg files but would not play them.   I believe the caause for this is that WHS is not true DLNA compliant.  The resolution was to install a piece of software called Twony Server.  You can download and install it for free for 30-days and then it costs $20.00 and I ended up purchasing it.   Once I did, my Samsung plays the ,mpeg files just fine.
