i need a number to call

Question

i hate computers and they make me [deleted] pissed, and then the only support you can get is non-existant email [deleted], i need a number to call so that i can talk to a real person and answer a real question, not just a preset answer. I purchased a renewal to my onecare subscription and now it still says i need to renew. So basically i just took a fifty dollar [deleted] if i can't get ahold of somebody.

I'm sorry that you are angry about the problem with OneCare, but it can be resolved.
Here's the preset answer part:
If your subscription to OneCare shows expired in OneCare
- Check your PC date and time.
- Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.
How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2
Read the FAQ about how to reach support. If it can't validate your subscription, use email support, explain that you are a subscriber and provide details of your problem. Ask for a phone number or a call back. Provide your subscriber LiveID from Help/About in OneCare.
Don't use profanity in the forum or in your contact with support as it isn't going to make the situation any better.
If you are not being helped by support via the email route, send me an email: sboots@mvps.org and use a subject line of "OneCare Expired" and paste this link - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2826728&SiteID=2 - in the message body. Tell me what country you are located in and I'll hook you up with support.

I tried going through all of the steps to do this, when i logged in i had to create a new account because i nver had a MSN account before, i just bought the program in the store, then when i went to renew it said there was no billing information for my account, so i went through and purchased a renewal online and now it isn't working, none of the quick help things that i read did any good. I am in the united states.
Sorry about the profaninty

I understand the frustration - it is $50 worth of frustration. And thanks for apologizing.
In your first post you mentioned renewal and you mentioned renew again now, yet you refer to creating a new account.
I'm not sure what you did.
Did you have a 1 year subscription that expired and then you bought another retail copy and installed it? Where does the renewal part come in?
I think it may be best for you to email me per my original reply. Don't forget the subject line and the link. Send it to sboots@mvps.org. I'll be online a little longer this evening and then back online throughout the day tomorrow.

when i bought my laptop in feb of 2007 i bought the windows live one care at the store and brought it home and installed it, then last week i had a popup that said i needed to renew my subscription. So i clicked on the link to renew it and when the page opened it said that i needed a hotmail or live mail, whichever it is, account to do this, so i signed up for one. Then when i logged in to renew it said that i had no billing information and i couldn't find a spot to enter it, so i went to the website that sells the one care and bought the renewal and now i still don't have it. i still have my original copy and my product key if that helps with anything.Tuesday, February 12, 2008 1:45 AM

Yes! that helps, but I can only direct you to support, so email me and I'll hook you up. Support can get your subscription situation straightened out.
When you first installed and activated OneCare on 2/07, you used a LiveID. (It is the Subscription ID in Help/About inside OneCare).
To renew a subscription, you need to sign in with that same LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
I'm not sure where you went to buy the renewal, but if it was the above, it had to be using the same LiveID. Anyway, please email me and I'll get you help with support.
