  • What exactly is your problem?
Look what it says when I try to begin or resume a course: "Unable to initialize the viewer. If you have installed the viewer to your computer, please re-run the Setup program. If you are accessing the viewer from a server, please contact your System Administrator."
Is it the same with you?

  • I don't think the problem is in our computers because many people have the same problem. I also don't think the problem is we don't have something installed because 2 days ago I was able to open my courses and now I'm not.
May be this is a kind of a bug in the website.

  • I agree with your evaluation of the situation, I was able to access my courses yesterday as well.
    Thanks for the feed back.

I think that the more people make cooments on this issue the sooner we will get some resolution.

  • I agree, I think the problem is in their website since I tried to access my course using my PC and laptop and I get the same error  (about the viewer).

  • I have been using my desktop running XP and my laptop running vista and I am getting the same message for both.

  • Actually in the morning when I realised I can't open my courses on the laptop (which is with Windows Vista), I tried to open the courses on my PC (with Windows XP) and I succesed. Then I start thinking the problem is in the laptop and tried everything. I downloaded the offline viewer, I restored my updates... but nothing helped. And when I read so many people have the same problem I decided the problem is in the website. I haven't tried to open the courses again on the PC with Windows XP.
I don't know... Do you think the problem might be in the diferent vrsions of Windows?

  • I have tried loging in on several different XP boxes and none have worked all of them have had the same error message that everyone is complaining about, the only difference being there was a HOSTLM error yesterday before the "unable to intialize viewer" error came up.

There is deffinately something going on at MS and it seems to be affecting everyone.

  • The offline player doesn't work either, unless you downloaded lessons before this problem occurred.  If you download after this problem started, the offline player errors with "Object expected".

  • It has been brought to my attention that there were indeed problems with the offline viewer the past few days.  I have received word from the team that supports the offline viewer that these issues were addressed as of this morning.

If you are still having problems, please contact me at learnmgr@microsoft.com and I will put you in touch with the team that supports this offline player.

    Thanks!
