Windoews Vista (TM) Build 6001 This copy of Windows is not genuine

Question
-
I own a Toshiba Satellite L300 Series laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. I've had the laptop for approximately 4 years, and prior to that it belonged to my father. A few weeks ago upon startup/login, WIndows began prompting me to activate. I could not find the COA or Product Key, so, after contacting Toshiba, I purchased a copy of their Recovery Media for machines running my OS. After reformatting the Hard Disk, and reinstalling Windows, I am still getting the same error. Currently I am running Windows Update, but in the interim I downloaded the MGA Diagnostic Tool, and here are the results:

Somehow, the machine seems to have granted you a new grace period - of 14 days - to get it genuine again.
This is very strange, as MS by design only grants two different grace periods - 30 days for the initial install, and 3 days for a significant hardware change.
It's still the case that your Key will never activate as it stands :(
I have no idea how this happened, unless you've been testing System Restore points?

OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
BIOS valid for OA 2.0: no, invalid SLIC tableThe machine is unable to properly query the SLIC table, and as a result cannot self-activate the OEM_SLP Key in use.
This means that you need to find the COA sticker (and be able to read the Key on it) - or purchase a new Windows license.
There *may* be an alternative solution though, if you are patient and persistent. (and can find at least the remains of the COA sticker)
Attempt Telephone Activation, and speak to an operator - they will tell you that your current Key
is blocked (they should then ask for confirmation of your Product Key). Explain to them your problem, that you need to change the Key to the one on your sticker, but that the sticker is unreadable (could they please supply a replacement
Key?). Hopefully they will ask for documentary proof of the sticker, in the form of an email with a picture of the affected sticker - and you can proceed from there.Sometimes it takes two or three calls before you get an operator who actually knows and uses this procedure - but I know that it can and does happen.

Noel,
I figured that was the problem after reading a few other posts on the forum. Unfortunately, I don't have the COA Sticker or Product Key. I tried to buy a new license (as prompted when I try to activate), but it takes me to the Genuine Windows page, which instructs me to validate through the link on that page. As I already knew, it tells me my copy of Windows is genuine. However, I will gladly buy a new license, even though my software is genuine, if there is no other solution. Although, being that my software IS genuine, there SHOULD be some solution other than buying something I should not need, due to some random BIOS error. Anyway, thank you for your help, Noel. I appreciate it.
