Ask Question button position & Live ID problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

A comment about the layout of the forum web page:

For me it was really counter intuitive to have the 'Ask Question' button on the right edge of the web page while having

the list of posts on left edge of the web page. I hope this could help for better layout.

    ------------------

I think I got some problems with my Windows Live ID and this forums access and IE:

    1) I started IE and went to msdn.microsoft.com site.

    2) I succesfully signed in clicking on the 'Sign In' item on the top right of the web page.

    3) I cliked on the Forums section and went saw the forums list.

    4) At this point I didn't see my usually profile section on the right edge.

    5) I gave a look at the top-right edge to see if I was signed in and surprisngly I wasn't because the 'system' ask me to sign in again.

    6) I clicked again on the 'sign in item on the top right and IE tried load a page but after some seconds it returned again on the same web page. And so on.

    7) I'm using firefox now.

    Any suggestyions?

    Thanks

My PC: Windows 7(64 bit), IE v9.0.8112.16421. All windows updates done.

  • Hi,

Could you please verify the list of your Trusted sites?

You need both http://social.msdn.microsoft.com and https://social.msdn.microsoft.com to be there or both not to be there.

This is a known issue and we are working on it.

    Thank you for feedback!

  • Hi,

I checked the trusted site zone. The version with https was missing.

I added it and now it seems ok, I can see my profile section on the right edge of the web page and I'm writing from IE.

( A little update: after signed in from windows live id I went under forum section and there my nick wasn't appear on the top right edge and my profiles section didn't appear too. Then I clicked again onthe 'sign in' on the top right and magically the profile section appeared. The system didn't ask to insert again my password in this second stage. I don't know if this behaviour is the default. )

    Thank you.
