I cant get office 2007 to validate in firefox after system restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had to restore my computer and when it finished it said my windows 7 and office 2007 were not validated. I went and validated windows 7 with no problem. But office 2007 will not validate. It says i have to download and run       "OgaPluginInstaller.exe"        I did this and followed the rest of instructions to no avail. This is a copy of what comes up when I press the continue button.

    Validation Status: Action Required

The validation process cannot continue because your web browser is not configured to run the script required by the validation process. To extend the functionality of a Mozilla-based Web browser, you can download the required plug-in and continue with the validation

The following will help you fix this problem and continue with validation.

    1. In the OgaPluginInstaller.exe pop up window, select Save File.
    2. Open the .exe and follow the steps to install the plug-in.
    3. Once the plug-in is installed, click the Refresh button below to verify that the plug-in loaded correctly.

        Refresh

(underlined below is the answer to the refresh button)

Office Genuine Advantage Plug-in loaded correctly.

    1. If the message shows that the plug-in loaded correctly, then click the Continue button below to resume the validation process.

        Continue

    1. If the message does not show that the plug-in is loaded correctly, you have two options. You may click on the Continue to learn why the plug-in failed to install. Otherwise, you may click the Validate Now button below to launch the alternate validation process (optimized for browsers unable to run the original validation script).

        Validate Now

I pressed continue but it says the plug in is not installed and as you can see it is.  Ive also tried the validate now in different ways. Ive uninstalled it and started again but the same answer keeps coming up. Ive restarted computer and it made no difference.

I just cant get it to verify.

I have copied MGA diagnosis below.

  • Hello sueelm,

Please go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx? and run the online validation diagnostic, and let us know if it found any problems and what, if anything, it wanted you to do to try to fix.

What happens if you visit the Validation Page and try to Validate while using Internet Explorer?
