AMD processor upgrade on EX470 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Just to let you know, all went very well, the system just feels a little more easier to work with, "smoother" from what I can see. CPU temp at the moment is around 33 to 35, with the system temp remaining at a constant 35C. Use Artic Clean for preping the installation of the new CPU and use Artic Silver 5, works very well and promises a clean installation.

Noted that it will take around 200hrs for the Artic Silver 5 to bed it self in.

Performed the 2Gb memory upgrade too.

I followed the great instructions found at http://www.homeserverhacks.com/search/label/hardware

Just wanted all to know that its well worth performing the upgrade for a great performance boost.

  • Actually - an upgrade to 2 MB memory would be an interesting thing, if the system would still work after that  ;-)
