Reinstalling One Care on replacement computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • We had both our computers stolen recently.  I purchased the first replacement and am attempting to reinstall software and the last backup.  The original unit was a Gateway FX530XM running XP; the replacement unit is an HP Pavilion Elite running Vista.  When I try to load One Care I get a message that One Care required XP Service Pack 2.
~ How can that requirement ever be satisfied if I am running Vista?
~ Will my version of One Care ever run on a Vista system?  A Best Buy tech. claims so.
~ If I ever get it loaded and try to upload the backup files, how will it work if the new directory structure is different?  Can I upload file by file or folder by folder?

We have just successfully overcome a problem reloading Office 2003 onto the new computer using a Microsoft Chat guy with Office software as his specialty.  It cost $49 for a session.
~ Is there a similar support feature for One Care?  I can't seem to find it among the One Care screens.
