  • Question

  • Note: Although Maptitude is probably off-topic for this forum, the following concerns a replacement for a Microsoft MapPoint product. Also, many people are moving from MapPoint to Caliper's Maptitude due to the inadequacies of Microsoft's current and planned geospatial products.

    ------------------------

We have just released "MileCharter for Maptitude" - a version of our popular MPMilecharter add-in for Caliper's Maptitude GIS product.

MileCharter batch calculates route distances, travel times, and cost estimates between two groups of data points. For example, it can calculate the driving distances from all of your customers to all of your sales offices.

The Professional License adds the ability to perform more sophisticated queries such as "Find the 3 closest sales offices to each of my customers that are also within 30 minutes drive time".

MileCharter for Maptitude supports all of Maptitude's routing options including the diverse set of road types (typically 1-2 dozen vs. MapPoint's 5-6). It also supports Maptitude Selection Sets, allowing you to work with subsets of either your own data or Maptitude's. For example, using Maptitude's city database, you could match your depots against cities with a population of 500,000.

Further information, free 14 day trial, and documentation can be found at: http://www.milecharter.com
Licenses start at US$75 for a Basic License.

With the imminent demise of Microsoft MapPoint, we are recommending that our customers switch to Caliper Maptitude. We are offering discounts for existing customers of MPMileCharter for MapPoint v3.

We also have a growing library of articles and pages about Caliper Maptitude at: http://www.mapping-tools.com/howto/maptitude/

  • v1.1 has just been released. This is a free upgrade for existing users of MileCharter of Maptitude.

v1.1 adds the ability to limit the input data to just user data layers (ie. filter out all the Caliper Country pack data layers); and fixes some issues with unexpected/missing maps and Street layers.

Further details, and downloads available at http://www.milecharter.com
The free 14 day trial continues to be available.

  • v1.2 has just been released. Here is the revision history:

    • New feature: Ability to modify road speeds with a ± percentage of the Maptitude defaults.

    • New feature: Ability to define a cost 'road table' as a single fixed cost per unit distance.

    • New feature: Ability to define road costs by road type.

    • New feature: Ability to load and save all road parameters (speeds, percentage speeds, and costs). These road type parameter files will also be usable with the next version of MPMileage for Maptitude.

    • Improvement: Available data views are limited to only those in the current map.

    • Improvement: Output cost worksheet and file now renamed to "cost" and "_c" respectively.

    • Bug fix: When in edit mode, the road speed table now loses the focus correctly.

    • Bug fix: Progress Form should not start with the focus applied to the Stop button (pressing return could accidentally stop the processing).

This version is a free upgrade for existing users of MileCharter for Maptitude. Upgrade discounts continue for users of MileCharter for MapPoint.

See http://www.milecharter.com for further information, download, and a free 14 day trial.
