WGA Validation Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am so happy that Microsoft does not build cars! :)   I am/was in the process of rebuilding my computer.  I have had to reinstall XP Pro at least 4~6 times over the last month.  Now, MS will not let me register because I have registered too many times.

What do I do?  I paid $360 for a valid OS.

    Any help?

    Regards,  Thomas

  • ZooBrotherTom,

You have a genuine retail license for XP Pro which can be activated as many times as you want to.

After a certain number of activations within a certain time period, automatic online activation is suspended as precaution against possible misuse.

Rerun the Activation Wizard and choose telphonic activation, which most likely will be accepted.

If not, at the end of the automated portion of telephonic activation, choose the option to speak with a live activate rep.  They will ask some questions to ascertain whether the license for XP is being used properly, and if so they will issue an activation code.

Why did you have to install XP 4-6 times over the last month?  If your situation is one where you are testing out new hardware configurations, once you install XP wait to activate until you are satisfied that your hardware and drivers are the way you want them.  That's why there is a 30-day activation window.
