Port Forwarding Issues on Asus RT-N16 router RRS feed

  • Question

  • hello,

i am trying to setup remote access and i keep getting a error that the router is not setup properly for port forwarding. i have opened up port 80,443, 4125 and with no avail.

i have read other threads here and there has been discussion of turning off the automated port forwarding request of server 2011.  how is this done?

i had windows server 2008 and had no issues with this router but now frustrated a tad with server 2011.

    any help is appreciated

  • The wiki article specifically for Windows Home Server (reachable through the online help) seems to be out of date. This one, for SBS-E and SS-E, is more complete. Briefly, though, you forward the required ports to your server (which must have a static or reserved dynamic IP address) and then go through Remote Access configuration on your server, telling it you want to manually configure your router.

Note: the only port you must forward to your server is 443. Forwarding port 80 is convenient, but port 4125 is completely unnecessary.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
