Bluetooth Mouse

Question
-
I found that it is possible to connect a mouse and keyboard to windows mobile through bluetooth. I'm surprised that this feature was not included with the phone (Verizon Wireless Omnia i910) There is a company that is selling the driver. http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=products&pid=5. (I downloaded the trial and it works great with my microsoft bluetooth mouse, but after 50 clicks, it wants me to purchase it)
I can't justify paying 14.95 EUR for a driver. If this already exists, please let me know about it. If not, can you please add it to a "wish-list" or "to-do list"?Saturday, March 14, 2009 8:55 PM

Thanks for the feedback Douglas. I am not aware of a free option but will share more information if I find such an existing solution. I'll also add this to the wish list. Much appreciated.

I've heard rumor of Windows Mobile 6.5 coming soon.http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/microsoft-announces-windows-mobile-6-5/Can you tell me anything about that? For instance, will it have the above mentioned bluetooth mouse/keyboard support? Will the update be available to anyone, or just those lucky enough to have their wireless contracts up and looking for new phones when it's released?Another thing that might be WM 6.1 related is the low battery beep that starts at about 40% and goes off every 5 minutes regardless if the phone is set to silent or vibrate. The only work-around is to download a registry editor, and delete some keys.http://www.careace.net/2009/04/22/low-battery-notification-on-verizon-omnia-i910/By the way, SPB makes an outstanding user interface to replace the default one that comes with the samsung omnia. (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/) If anyone's looking for some creative insight with programming future WM, SPB shell is awesome.Let me know if you want anymore suggestions to make WM a better product, I've changed and tweaked almost everything on my phone and could go on and on listing things that the WM lacks.Thursday, May 7, 2009 3:00 AM

Hey Douglas,
Some time ago, I was able to connect a bluetooth keyboard to my Palm 700w (should tell you how long ago that was). The drivers needed to do this would have to be done by each OEM, thats one of the reasons that MS can't just pump out updates - the devices are even though they are running the same OS. The company that you mentioned has decided to provide that functionality, and they're hoping that the business model works for them - I do too.
Should MS provide drivers for mice and keyboards - thats a good suggestion, which I'll capture.
Thank you for the suggestion Douglas!- Proposed as answer by 2GrokMobile Friday, May 29, 2009 6:06 PM

The bluetooth mouse that I tried to connect to my Omnia was "Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000." This particular device does not come with any drivers, USB Dongle, or installation CD. It is meant to simply connect to a laptop's built-in Bluetooth. If you know of a way to install the required driver onto Windows Mobile 6.1, I'd love to hear how.Friday, May 29, 2009 6:21 PM
