Used different xp media (SP3 instead of SP1) - can't activate.. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello - i got a 2nd hand laptop from eBay and everything was working OK for the past two years.

The product key of the XP sticker on the bottom of the laptop was used during the original install (XP Pro with SP1) and a couple re-installs.

However when I used the retail/msdn XP SP3 professional CD to do a clean re-install, it wouldn't accept the same product key, so installed without product key. now that the 30-days period is over and I'm locked out of my XP installation

run MGADiag.exe in safe mode and here's the log. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

PS; tried to do the phone activation - after I enter the installation id on the phone, im told to go to "change product key" and then it won't accept the same product key.

also kindly note that the HDD has been recently replaced (activation was still working OK), RAM too
