Timesheet Actual Hours Prepopulation of hours RRS feed

    Hi,

    Due to some reason Resource assign to a task is getiing prepoplated Actual Hours in future dates as well as in current timesheet period.

    When we manually delated the current Actual Hours, In total hours column(Actual Hours) is still reflecting some hours. Couldn't figure it out from where exactly is this Actual hours been reflecting in Timesheet.

    How do we delete future prepopulated Actual hours?

    Please help with soluiton to this

    Hi Brijesh,

    So if I understand well, a resource's timesheet gets populated with actual hours which do not exist in the project plan? 

    First some questions: which Project Server version are you using? Did you activate the Single Entry Mode? Are actuals forced to come from the timesheet? Also how did you configure the prepopulation of timesheets (server settings/Timesheet Settings and Defaults)?

    Also: does it happen to one unique resource or is it a general issue? Is it a bug that y ou can reproduce?

    Basically, assuming you configure accordingly the prepopulation, the timesheets are populated with the resource assignments on the given period. Note that if the timesheet has been created prior to the assignment publication, then it has to been added manually into the timesheet. Only the planned row is populated. The resource enters actuals which automatically replace the planned hours in the timesheet. Once approved, actuals also replace the work in the project plan.

    Based on this explanation, we have to understand if you face a bug or if the process is just not understood correctly.

    For example, if the actuals are forced to come from the timesheets, they cannot be entered manually in MS Project, thus you cannot have actuals in a future timesheet period coming from I don't know where..

    Hi Guillaume,

    Sorry to response late on this just wanted to let you know that I have found the root cause of this issue ,

    Currently we are using 2010 and activated single entry mode for timesheet. yes actual are come from Timesheet.

    Reason for this issue was as the user have enabled the option "Marked as complete" against the task in the TASK Sheet due to which the pre population was reflecting till the finish date of the task in the Timesheet and the project plan.
