New Lead email notification. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Our company is using Microsoft CRM 3.0, Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007.

Is there any place in CRM 3.0 I can configure so that when a new lead in Marketing is created, then an email notification will be sent to an email address?

    Thank you.

  • Workflow rules are the way to go. On the CRM server log in as a user with CRM System Customizer or CRM System Administrator privileges (the user must NOT be in "Restricted Access Mode"). Go to Start > Programs > CRM > CRM Workflow Manager. In Workflow Manager, select the Lead entity, and create a new rule for the "Assign" event. Add the action "Send Email" and create the email you want sent. There is more info in the Help files of the Workflow Manager, the SDK, and on the web for how to use Workflow Manager.

    Hi IT PROs,

    Thank you for your reply.

Our scenario is that we have an web application which creates Leads and modifies CRM database directly. If I define this workflow in my case, will it still send email to the user?

We finally ended up adding email function to the web application.

    Thank you.
