System Error 2 is a serious problem
the full set of data from the SC commands may help identify what the problem is (as you may have gathered, there's a fair amount of groping around in the dark involved here <g>).
    sc qc sppsvc
    sc queryex sppsvc
    sc qprivs sppsvc
    sc qsidtype sppsvc
    sc sdshow sppsvc

Can you check in the Task Scheduler for anything related, and also in the Event Viewer?

  • Have you tried a System Restore to a point before the error appeared?

  • Tried system restore 3 times.  When I restore the not Genuine goes away for a few hours but the Windows activation area still says Status Not Available and Product Id: Not Available. Mcafee is current and scans are clean.  Malwarebytes is current and scans clean.

  • Other variables here.  I remoted desktoped into a client that has nod32 installed on their server.  Installed Office 2010 a few weeks back and updated.  Restore point was before Java update 29.

  • I also tried slmgr in Administrator mode from CMD and no luck either. Using the key from the side of
    the box.
    slmgr -ipk your-mak-key-here

    slmgr -ato

  • FYI: Ran from Administrator CMD window just now:  sfc/verifyonly Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

  • SFC doesn't detect such issues as bad registry entries or corrupted data tables, etc.  It also wouldn't detect a good file that was the wrong file.

  • There was a post somewhere in I *think* this forum for replacing some of the dlls in case they had been replaced by a virus or if windows *thought* they had been tampered with and then blocked access to them.  If this rings a bell and makes sense can you paste it here. I will look around for that.  Any other suggestions are truly appreciated.
