CRM 2011 - How to Enable 'Add New' in Subgrid Ribbon on Inactive Record? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In our CRM 2011 Organzation, entity A has a 1:N relationship to entity B.  According to the business process, after entity A is set to a state of Inactive,  entity B records are associated with the Inactive entity A.

When the form of Inactive entity A is opened, all the ribbon buttons - including the 'Add New Entity B' - are disabled.

Is there a way to enable 'Add New Entity B' button on the entity A form when the entity A record is Inactive?

  • CRM doesn't allow inactive records to be updated using the UI. (though you can do so using the sdk)

If your business requires the record to be non-editable at some stage but needs to add entity B records using UI then you could disable the fields on the form instead of deactivating it.

  • Thank you very much for the reply.  So, just to be certain, there is no supported mechanism to enable out-of-the-box ribbon buttons on an in-active record?

    Thank you again!
