  • I have the same problem.  I used the alternate link under both IE and Mozilla Firefox. Under IE, I get a choice whether to save or run. Clicking Run does nothing. If I click Save, I can provide an existing folder name, and click Save. The "save progress" window appears briefly, but afterward, there is nothing  in the folder I provided. Under Firefox, I get only the Save File option. After clicking it, the Firefox "downloads" window appears and shows FixitCenter_Run.exe. Double-clicking on the item does nothing; right-clicking pops a list including Open, but clicking Open does nothing. And FixitCenter_Run.exe is not found on my system by File Explorer. I don't know what to do next.

  • With either IE or Firefox, there's I tried to search my C: drive for the downloaded file, but it's not found, so I think the answer is "no, it is not downloaded sucessfully (even though there is indication from the browser that is or has been downloaded.

  • Hi michaelpanderson,

Thanks for your feedback, based on your described I thinks your issue was can't download and save "Fix it Center"/"Troubleshooter" to your local machine. Could you please verify the download save location with your browser.

Firefox, please verify  menu "Tools" -> "Options" -> tab "General" please note group "Downloads" setting.

IE, when click download link the save dialog will pop-up, please verify save location on your local machine.

If you still have any doubt with this issue, please let me know. Happy New Year!

  • Checking the Firefix setting for downloads, I have tried both leaving it at the default - a folder called Downloads and setting it to "always ask me where to put it". Both SEEM to work, the expected popups appear, and in the latter case I can specify a location to save to. And the Firefox popup with the list of downloaded things appears and includes the file I am trying to download.  But I cannot open the file from that popup, and there is no sign of the allegedly downloaded file in either  my  Downloads folder (case 1) or the folder I specified (case 2).

For IE, I when I right click a link and click SaveAs..., I get the expected popup asking me where I want to file saved, and I get the progress popup that makes it look like something is being downloaded, but after that popup disappears, I can find nothing in the location I indicated. I have even tried a search of my entire c: drive, but the file is nowhere.

BTW, in none of the cases above do I get any kind of firewall message. I have also tried doing it with the Windows firewall turned off, but nothing changes.

Since both browsers are acting the same, it sure looks like something in Vista or my environment.

I'm getting desperate; I can't download anything. (I even tried update my firefox, but you can imagine the result - since it needs to be ...  DOWNLOADED!)

  • Hi michaelpanderson,

Thanks for your posted. Except "Fix It Center or Troubleshooter" application, can you download another application?

  • Answer to the question "Except 'Fix It Center or Troubleshooter' application, can you download another application?":

No, I cannot download any application or any file with either IE or Firefox. There are no error messages, and the operation seems to be proceeding bases on popups that I see, but, in the end, there is no file on my system.

Might this information be useful? In the Firefox case, I tried downloading to "Desktop" so I could see the file. During the download process, an icon appears on my desktop that appears to have the name of my file. All the expected popups appear, including the Firefox list of downloaded files with the most recent file at the top of the list. I wait a while after I expect the download to be completed, and look at the icon on my desktop - it's name is... "<name of the file I downloaded, including the extension, such as .exe>.part", as if the file is still in the process of being downloaded. To add to the mystery, when I select the icon and try to delete it, I get a popup saying the file can't be found.

The net is that I haven't been able to download anything for several weeks.

    Please help! Thank you!
