ADS removal RRS feed

  • Question

If an ADS slips by onto WHS from a workstation, such as a .url in Favorites with the favicon stream getting backed up onto the the Server, what is a safe way to remove it from WHS?  Can either ADS Spy or Streams be used directly on the server?  I've tried to use ADS Spy on a workstation to scan my shared folders on WHS, but it doesn't recognize the shared folder as NTFS.

  • The recent update from Microsoft for WHS, is supposed to have fixed the ADS problem, so there should be no need to remove the alternative stream. However, one way, would be move the file to your desktop machine, perform the operation and then move it back.
