Cannot uninstall IE7 or install IE8 beta 2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello good buddies,
could somebody please help me with this slight problem: I finally decided to give IE 8, beta 2, a try. After scanning for malware,
the installation file reports that errors occurred while trying to install. It says, approximately:
"The installation of Internet Explorer could not be finalized. The PC must be rebooted in order for changes made by the
install file to be reset. After rebooting click on the link 'Troubleshoot Internet Explorer' which has been placed on
    the desktop".

OK, so I reboot, but when the PC is up and running again, no such link exists ?:|

Next I tried to reinstall IE 7 to get a 'clean slate' from which I could then install IE 8, but the same thing happens
as described above X-( I have also run the How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 - guide; no go.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Any and all help is much appreciated.

Greetings, and best wishes to all for a Happy 2009!

  • Hi, you can try to run System Restore to get you computer to the date before the installation of IE8.
