  • Question

  • Is it possible to use the sync framework to sync the filesteam datatype from sql server 2008 on a server to sql server express on an occasionally connected desktop application?

  • Unfortunately filestream is not a supported datatype that you can use to sync.

Could you please explain the scenario you are trying to cover, maybe there are other ways to try to achieve what you are trying to do.

  • Hi Mahesh,

We are designing an occastionally connected sales application which lives on a saleperson's laptop and is build with WPF and SQL server express. The sales application would sync from a central SQL server.  I was planning on using the filestream datatype to store product images and video.  The idea would be to sync this data when the laptop was on the local network.

  • Would binary/varbinary/varbinary(max) columns not suffice for you?
