Help with the trojan:win32/conhook.b RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using Windows XP SP2 with Windows OneCare Beta2;
    I used an old hard drive to backup some of my data and since then (almost a week) I can do anything on my computer. I started 1st getting popups only when I start my internet explorer, after may 2 days I started getting "WinAntivirus2006" popups and now it's just a loop of a prompt from Windows Live OneCare about the       t
    rojan:win32/conhook.b that I'm getting.

    When I click on Advanced from the OneCare prompt, this is what I get:
    Description: This program has potentially unwanted behavior;
    Resources: D\windows\system32\vtuurrs.dll;

    Whenever I click on "clean all", I get the prompt that it has been deleted and to restart my computer.
    The 1st thing I get when I start my computer is that same prompt all over again for the same trojan:win32/conhook.b.

    What I did so far:
    - deleted temp and temporary internet files from my Local Settings folder.
    - turned off system restore
    - ran the the OneScan virus scan
    No change at all, going through sage mode didnt help also.

    Please I need some help as I can't work on this computer.
