hal.dll and Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • OK, i realise youve probably been asked this same question time and time again... but is there a way to fix the hal.dll without resorting to a re-installation or having to re-install your hardware?

Most of the posts i've read about the ''hal.dll is missing or corrupt, please reinstall this file'' error have been directed towards Windows XP, or systems with dual boot of both XP and Vista.

My pc is running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit alone, there's no dual boot, and it was a fresh hard drive that it was installed on...

It's been fine for a couple of months but now, all of a sudden, i get this error... and i have no idea what to do about it.

I can boot from the Vista install disc and fix the problem by either using system recovery or the memory checker, and then it boots fine, but i just wish i didnt have to do that each time i boot my pc.

    Any thoughts?
