How do I restore files on windows 7 machine backed up from CRASHED VISTA machine?

Question

I backed up files from a HP Vista computer on a regular basis using Windows Live OneCare. That HP Vista machine finally broke down, was told it was unrepairable, it was replaced by the service company by a brand new HP Windows 7 computer! How do I restore all my files backed up from my HP Vista to my new HP Windows 7?
Tried several times to install the Windows Live OneCare, but it says its incompatiable. All I care about is restoring my most recent backup files.

The OneCare Restore Tool installs on Windows 7 and should not give you the error you are encountering. That error would be what you get if you try to install the full OneCare on Windows 7.
If you continue to get that error, please contact support.
