  • Question

  • When activating Oncare I selected I have an accoun t but could not log in. Rather than fuss with an old account I created a new one with an email address i actually use.   No problem with that or activating the product key.  However, when I got back to OneCare it is determined that I log on with the account i originally tried to use.  This is not much help because even if i succeeded in getting the password right it does not have the token activated on that account.  So, how do i convince it to let me sign in with the new account.  It works fine when I set it up on the other computer.

Also, a number to call to get help in real time from a person (granted a person is going to have to respond to this) would be very helpful.   If you have a problem that prevents internet use what are you supposed to do?

  • Found the answer myself.   You have to install a repair program that will remove the old account for you then you can put in the new one.  This a is a link to get the program.

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/7/5/f759f03c-cee7-4e3d-978c-0d56b9a8533b/RemoveMachine.exe

When prompted click run.   When the program has downloaded and finished go back into OneCare and click activate.  You can then enter the new account information.

  • Glad you were able to resolve it. :-)

The utility you refer to is described in this FAQ post - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2776450&SiteID=2

  • I am no longer able to login to my hotmail account that is associated to my Live One Care.  I believe that someone has taken over the account because I can no longer reset the account either.  I tried removing the one care account and adding a new account that I created, but now it want's me to pay for a new subscription.   How do I resolve this?  Is there someone I can call?  I am willing to pay for the support.
