This morning I deleted the HP Back-Up partition and since then I'm getting the above message in the title. I've downloaded the diagnostic tool and am copying the validation info into this page. Please advise how to solve this problem:

You need to change to the COA key. THen activate by phone. Go to system properties, install new key then follow the SLUI 4 instructions from above (slui 4 command in the search bar, hit enter, activate by phone).
Download and run MGAdiag and paste the results in your thread go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012- Marked as answer by Darin Smith MS Wednesday, March 24, 2010 8:41 PM

The product key of the Windows 7 Upgrade Software was entered into the box, the system checked and accepted it but the product ID on the system screen has not changed at all. However the warning
Windows 7 Build 7600 / This copy of Windows is not genuine
has disappeared from the desktop completely .
Do I really need to do anything else or will it be OK now?- Marked as answer by Darin Smith MS Wednesday, March 24, 2010 8:41 PM

open up system properties through the control panel or just hit the win-key and pause simultaniously. At the bottom of the system properties you will see the section that says Windows Activation, if it gives you a certain amount of days to activate then just click on the change product key and insert the key that is located on the bottom or side of the PC on the COA sticker, if it asks to activate don't, instead close out of system properties and type "slui 4" without the qoutes in the search box above the start button and hit enter. Now you should see an activate by phone box, enter your region, call the number provided, don't hit any buttons to for menu options (this will force a real person to pick up) and activate this way. Run the diagnostic again and see what it says.
Phone activation is required when using the COA key from the bottom of the PC. The key in your report seems to be a system builder key designed for smaller OEM's and there is no reason to use this key if you have a valid COA key on the computer. If however you don't want to or can't use the COA key then just acivate the system builder key over the internet, as with previous system builder keys, once it is installed on that hardware it is locked to it unless a motherboard fails and has to be replaced, then it can be reactivated with the new motherboard and will be locked to the new hardware hash.

The system properties page says "windows is activated" and there is no mention of any deadline to activate.
What can I do now to eliminate this annoying message
Windows 7 Build 7600 / This copy of Windows is not genuine
After all I have paid good money for this piece of software and it is not acceptable to have this message on my descktop.
Awaiting your answer.

Which key did you activate? the COA or the system builder?
EDIT, try changing the key to the COA key, the one on the diagnostic is a system builder and you should be using the COA key (which requires phone activation).

I didn't activate any key. Now I'm getting flashing messages saying I may be the victim of counterfeit software.
What do I have to do here?

Run a new diagnostic report and paste it here. so we can see what it says.
And now it makes more sense if this was an OEM system builder upgrade for Vista recieved from the manufacturer. If you ever have to do a clean install it will mean installing twice (because it is an upgrade).

Looks good but for some reason you got an extra rearm, as long as it stays genuine I wouldn't worry about it.
Download and run MGAdiag and paste the results in your thread go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012Tuesday, March 23, 2010 1:22 PM -
same here everything looks good.. when you got notifications again coordinate with HP so they can help you too.
