  • Cristinabelle,

Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. I understand that in most cases, customers have no idea their copies of MS Office Suites were not legitimately provided.   This is because some resellers try to cut costs by providing unauthorized copies, but still charge the customer for a copy of Windows and MS Office Suite.  This may not have happened in your case, but it does happen.  Also, we appreciate your concern that you’ve been using your copy of Windows for a long time. People often wonder, how is it that all of a sudden my copy turns out to be counterfeit.  This is because Microsoft is continually investigating piracy reports, and identifying Product Keys that are being used improperly.  It is possible for a Product Key to be used over a course of time, which may or may not be your case, but is then found to be a source of counterfeit software and therefore blocked from validating.

May I suggest a couple of links to follow this up?

To further diagnose your system and look for a fix, please visit this site:

To learn more about WGA, the piracy problem, what Microsoft is doing, and how you can help, please visit this site:

    Your Diagnostic Report:

Microsoft Office XP Professional - shows a blocked Volume License Key. Volume License keys are normally reserved for governments, schools, and companies. Please contact your company's IT Administrator to further troubleshoot this if this belongs to your company. Otherwise it will need to be uninstalled.

If for some reason you did not know that Office XP Pro was on your system, remove it from Add/Remove programs. OR you can do the following -

The following article will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT OFFICE 2007) on your computer. Then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine Office installation media  and product key. See below:

KB290301 – Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.

The following link provides information for the Windows Product Key Update Tool instructions.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PkuInstructions.aspx?displayLang=enUtility

I hope this will prove helpful. Thank you for contacting the OGA program forum.

    Rick
