Automatic Updates and Windows Live Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have three PC's at my home office, two are currently running 2007 Outlook Live, the third one was....  The Automatic restarts are corrupting each individual PC's Oulook .pst file.  The third PC I've never been able to restore Outlook Live.  In the last year, I've had to restore a backup of this *.pst file on numerous occasions.

If your running One Care, it just makes it worse because you cant disable "Automatic Updates" without causing a Red Caution flag up.... Hard to win this one....

  • I've moved your post to the Tune-up topic since it is this part of OneCare that checks for the status of Windows Automatic Updates. Yes, OneCare requires that you automatically install updates via AU. The data file check in Outlook when you restart after a reboot is because Outlook is apparently not closing the handle to the .pst file before Windows forces the reboot. It can happen even if you close Outlook and then shut down or reboot the PC shortly thereafter. For the Outlook issues, seek help in the Outlook/Office newsgroups:

I have never tried this, so use it at your own risk, but there us apparently a utility that allows you to disable/control the reboot part of AU - http://forum.zonealarm.com/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=Off-Topic&message.id=17126
