Need help on bad WHS install. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm building a new home server on a new system with four 1Tb drives. I installed window home server without a hitch and then tried to setup raid 5 from the bios. I then learned this did not work because WHS does not support raid.

I then went into the bios and change the drives back to non-raid, did another new install. WHS formatted the drives but the install did not work

I get a blue screen after reboot.

I suspect there in residual data on the drive that prevents me from doing a clean install.

Does anyone know how to get around this to do a clean install?

    Intel 45w duel processor

    4 gb ram

    four new WD 1tb drives

    Supermicro M8D-X7SBL-LN1 Motherboard

  • You could try using the diskpart command line utility to run the clean command on the system disk (or on all of your disks, if you have no data at risk). You can do this by booting from a Vista or Windows 7 full installation disk and using the recovery tools, or by connecting the drive to another computer.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
