This copy of Windows is not genuine... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got Windows 7 pre-installed with my laptop with ZERO issues since I bought it in March. There's genuine Microsoft Windows stickers on the back, it registered genuine when I first set up the laptop, etc. Now all of a sudden after Windows updated I'm getting the "This copy of Windows is not genuine" message. I ran Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool and this is what I got:

  • Your Windows is not reading the SLIC table in the BIOS as required of OEM SLP copies of Windows.

BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes, but no SLIC table

Find the OEM COA sticker on the case or in the battery compartment and copy the product key.  Press WinKey + Pause/Break to bring up the System Properties page and scroll to the bottom.  Click the Change Product Key link and enter the COA key to reactivate.
