Still have notification after uninstalling office RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am repairing a friend's PC, which had Office 2007 Enterprise partially installed. I don't know if it had ever worked.

I have uninstalled the program, hoping to install OpenOffice, but there is still the WGA star icon in the task bar at the bottom right of screen.

Why do I still see this icon when no Office is installed? I would be gratefull for any help on this, my friend needs his computer back.

  • Hello anth11,

This isn't strickly a WGA issue. I'm not sure why, but Office 2007 appears to sometimes have issues uninstalling. So, if there are still pieces of Office remaining in Windows, then WGA will (most likely) still report on it's Genuine status.

Below are links to two Support Docs outlining how to manually uninstall office 2007. Give them a try and see if that resolves the issue.  If it doesn't, click on the WGA Star and confirm that it's not reporting Windows as non-genuine, instead of Office:
