CRM Outlook client configure error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Outlook CRM client 4.0 has been a bit of a hit and a miss for me.

I have it running on my desktop, no issues (bit of lag now and then).

New laptop and after configuring Outlook 2007 with my exchange server I installed the CRM Outlook client.
All was running well untillI installed Outlook Business contact manager (why? Because I was tired of the install wizard popping up asking me to install it every time I opened Outlook).

Outlook then refused to start up properly. I tried running outlook on safe mode, then in fix and repair, no joy.

System restore to pre CRM Client install and then tried again. (since I did System Restore, this then meant BCM was also uninstalled).

Tried installing again and go this error:

    Action Microsoft.Crm.Config.Client.ReattachPreviouslySavedDatabaseAction failed.
Could not find file 'C:\Users\Ryan Laptop\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Data\MSCRM_3eb55d92e7dfdd11b36200155dcc960f_MSDE.MDF'.

I can supply a copy of the log if required.

  • I would cut your losses and uninstall Outlook, Outlook BCM and CRM (if they appear in Add/Remove Programs) and then install Outlook again (don't install BCM).

Did you install the CRM Client with offline access? If so, I'd uninstall the SQL Express instance for CRM as well before reinstalling.

  • Isn't doing a system restore basically the same as uninstalling? I've already previosuly system restored to prior to installing CRM.

I'll try uninstalling the SQL Express too

  • I guess it is. But the error message suggests that something is remembering the previous installation.

Coincidentally I just came across this article that may be of interest:
