3TB Hard drive with windows server. leaving 700 gb space unallocated. RRS feed

  • Can i create a new partition from this? how do I do this?

  • If you are using this for server storage and you are are happy to use RDP to your Server, you should be able to do so using Disk Management in the Server Manager. It will need to be formatted as a GPT disk.

  • Yes, as Phil says. I have two 4Tb GPT disks attached to my server.

    However, be aware that you cannot include volumes larger than 2Tb in your Server Backup set.  So it is best to reserve the use of volumes larger than 2Tb for things that you can back up or make redundant by other means.
