Console closes itself RRS feed

  • Question

  • So my problem is when I open up the console (whether its from a client, remote desktop, or the server itself) it automatically shuts down. The error log is pasted below but not sure what it means. Does anyone have any ideas?

No.  You might try running chkdsk /r on at least your primary drive again (just to make sure there are no errors).  Otherwise, you might have to try a Server Reinstallation in order to fix your problem.

Has it ever worked?  If so, did you install anything around the time it stopped working?  Does everything else work (backups, server shares, Remote Access)?

Yes its been running for over a year, I rarely connect anymore but the last thing ive done was pull an old xp machine off the network and added a win 7 machine. No new add ons, no uninstalling addons. I did have a alert saying my primary drive was failing so I let it repair it then rebooted and seemed ok. Server shares works, remote desktop works, backup works, it seems its just the console itself.

Is it possible to run the console in a "safe mode"?

No.  You might try running chkdsk /r on at least your primary drive again (just to make sure there are no errors).  Otherwise, you might have to try a Server Reinstallation in order to fix your problem.

One final thought:  the fact that you have now had to fix it twice is not a good sign.  You should start looking for a replacement drive ASAP.
