should i persue mcdba RRS feed

  • I was wandering if anyone can help me.  I have passed 70-228, 70-229.  Should I persue MCDBA certification or should i change to MCITP.  Can anyone help? Thanks

  • Because you have 228 & 229 you can still get a MCDBA.  You will need one 2003 exam (like 290/291) and one elective - see MS Site for details.  The is an upgrade path from MCDBA to SQL 2008 by taking 2 exams - one on SQL 2005 (TS) and a Pro on 2008.  Personally I think it is still a good qual to have and unless, like you, guys have 228/229 you can't get it any more.  Go for it!

    The other requisite exam for MCDBA 70-228 has been retired so you cant finish the MCDBA. Some sites may still offer it tho.

    Your best option is to look at the current certifications either on SQL 2005 or 2008 and follow those.

    On 2008 its 2 exams 70-432 and 70-450 and on 2005 its 3, 70-431, 70-443 & 70-444
