I first noticed yesterday when Live Messenger 2011 would hang every time I opened it. Then I noticed today that Microsoft Security Essentials could not start when I logged into Windows. I tried reinstalling MSE like the error suggested but the installer
didn't run after unpacking itself. I tried to enter Services.msc to start the MSE service but I got an error that MMC cannot open it. I wanted to go to Backup and Restore via Control Panel to restore a previous point but Restore wont open. I double-clicked
Action Center, System Properties, Recovery, and Troubleshooting but none of them opened. Then I tried to open Mouse, Keyboard, and Internet Options and they opened. I went to the Microsoft site and tried to use their FIX IT but even that doesn't run.
I do run a weekly backup of my system with a third party software but I'm confused why this is happening.
I'm on Windows 7 Home 64-bit. I have not installed any new software or hardware in the past few weeks and I spend most of my time on the internet browsing Youtube.
