I have been using synctoy 2.0 to back up an external hard drive and was very happy with how well and how rapidly it worked.
I had a need to re-install my OS (XP Pro) and after I did that and re-installed a number of other applications I went to install synctoy 2.0 and found there was a newer version. After installing 2.1 I made up new folder pairs the same as what I previously had and ran the multiple folder pairs as in the past. The first run with 2.1 took some time, I suspected that was because it needed to generate new data files. When I went to run the same folder pairs a second time, I think it took just about as long and no where near as rapid as when I was using 2.0.
Is there something I've not done to achieve the rapid backup I experienced with 2.0?
(Curiously I see that none of the backed up files are fragmented in 2.1, unlike 2.0 If this is the reason, i think i liked the speed of 2.0 over defragmenting. With 2.0 i was able to backup and then defrag quicker than 2.1 - Any thoughts)
Please excuse my error. I re-read the help notes and found that I had checked the "Check File Contents" box which slowed the syncronization down considerably.
