Are these bugs or default behaviours in CRM? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

There are a few things about the CRM dynamic 4.0 system that are wonderful, most MS products are very intuative, which is why I'm questioning if these are bugs or out of the box CRM behaviours.

    1) When we create a case in the service section, everything ties up nicely, a customer is selected, from that a filtered list of contracts and contract lines are given. But when you go to contacts, the entire CRM contact list is displayed. I cannot use the search facility at the top to filter on company, only searching by name. If I was new to the company and didn't know the primary contact person, I would find this very difficult. Plus, I would have to say the system should be intutive to have contacts related or associated with a company to be returned in this section.

    2) When we have existing activities in a case and they are updated, the date stamp on the case is not changed even when we have modified them.

Your repsonse will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, I proposed that as a possible work around. I agree it is not the perfect solution. If that does not fit your needs that you have three possible options below.
Buy the Filtered lookups at Michael Höhne's site below.

Try the unsupported method at the post below.

You could also write a plugin that allows you to filter the lookup. Please see thread below.

  • Please find the answer to your questions below.
1- Yes this is be design. Possible work around would be to add the company name to the "Find column" of the contact lookup view. This will allow system users to quickly search for contacts associated with a company when setting the contact for a case.

2- Again this is be design. If you want to update the "Modified On" date on the case form you will need to write a plug-in that updates the field when the assocaited activity is updated.

Hope this answers your question. If not feel free to post back.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. Company name is already added to the Find Column so this isn't the fix for this...
