Windows 7 no longer genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • i recently came home from work after leaving the PC on and i had a notification that my copy of Windows 7 was no longer genuine.  this has become a major nuisance since i contacted the office and i ended up getting transferred all over the world, to many different customer services.  Bottom-line is i had one lady tell me my retail copy of windows 7 is legit but there was nothing that she could do for me.  I don't have another copy to do a OS re install since i downloaded the Copy as a upgrade through school.

  • I have looked up the key and it is showing as Valid and Genuine (no blocks).

I recommend Validating Windows at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate

If Validation is successful (which I suspect) then the page will show a "Welcome to Windows" message (and offer you Security Essentials) at which point your issue should be resolved (you may need to reboot for the Non-Genuine message to fully disappear).

However if Validation was not successful, it will give an error message describing the issue.  re-run a new Diagnostic Report and post it so we can see what (if anything) has changed.

    Thank you,

  • The error code indicates that Microsoft has blocked the key.  Reinstallation would not fix this since the problem is the key.  To ensure that there has not been a mistake contact the Academic Program administrator for the program under which you obtained the key and request assistance.  A common cause for a key being blocked is a refund request.  You need to find out if your key has been erroneously flagged as a refund.
