Windows Update are failing thanks to error 0x8004fe21 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a popup from time to time which say my Windows 7 XP1 x64 English is not genuine. I know it's false as this is my office computer bought from Dell and setup by my IT departement. I assume a program corrupted something and I would like to know what is the best way to restore the incorrect system files.

I choose to contact Ms help first instead of my company IT because I assume Ms team will be able to solve this problem quicker.

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • Hi Noel,

I tried and get a magnificent BSOD (0x0000007B) at each boot ! I manage to solve it by tweaking a lot but it seem clear the computers have some big problem with storage drivers.
Right now, the computer is using the latest Intel storage driver from Intel website. I think I will just plan a full Windows reinstall sooner or later.
    Thanks for you help :)
