  • Question

  • This happened after I went to fix my computer after it crashed and they asked if I wanted Windows 7 instead of vista and I said yes and like after a month use it said my computer is not genuine. This Toshiba Sattellite came with Windows vista not Windows 7 and whenever I try to validate, it tries to validate under windows 7 and also the product key under the laptop doesnt match the one in the report.

    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

You have an OEM SLP copy of Windows.  This type of Windows can only be legitimately installed at the time the computer is manufactured.  Since you have a Toshiba Satellite it is not possible to legitimately have a Hewlett Packard OEM SLP table in the BIOS.

    BIOS Information:
ACPI Table Name OEMID Value OEMTableID Value
      APIC   TOSINV  TOSINV00
      FACP   TOSINV  TOSINV00
      HPET   TOSINV  TOSINV00

      MCFG   TOSINV  TOSINV00
      SLIC   HPQOEM  SLIC-MPC
      SSDT   AMD     PowerNow

The computer was manufactured on June 18, 2009.  There is no way it shipped with a Windows 7 OEM SLP table when Windows 7 wasn't even released to manufacturing until July 24, 2009.

    <Date>20090618000000.000000+000

HrOnline: 0xC004C4A2  The product key is now blocked and can never be activated.

Someone has used a 'loader' to simulate an OEM SLP table in software to trick Windows into thinking it has been automatically activated.

You need to purchase a genuine copy of Windows 7 and install it.

And in addition the Office package you have is a volume licensed version that has had the product key blocked.  If your computer is used in a business that purchased a volume license for Enterprise then you need to contact the system administrator to have this issue fixed.  This version is never legitimately sold to a private individual (other than HUP licenses) and should be removed from the computer.

Whoever "they" are that rebuilt your computer certainly did not do you any favors.  If "they" charged you for Win 7 you need to obtain a full and immediate refund from them.

You should restore the computer to factory specifications using the Vista restore method that Toshiba provided you (and if you can't then you need to contact Toshiba for a set of restore media at a nominal cost.)  Copy off any data first to avoid losing that.
