Why is my windows 7 pro key blocked??

Question
-
I bought another copy of Windows 7 professional retail, but this time it wont activate saying the key is blocked. It came in genuine sealed packaging. The disks are genuine. I've ran the validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine and it came back ok. Yet I cannot activate. This isn't an MSDN key, it's a genuine one. What's going on??? I've opened a case with Ebay, but these can take ages to resolve. I know that for XP you could send in the disks and they would send you a working key, do they offer this for Windows 7?? I can't find it :(
I ran the reporting tool, output:-

I hate to break it to you but this IS an MSDN key
00371-220-5355926-86458 the middle 3 digits of 220 are in the expected range for an MSDN key, please read the sticky, you have allready filed a claim and that is good, however you said you bought another copy of windows, I advise you to check the PID on the other computer now so if it is also an MSDN key you can pursue that issue also.
TO view the pid press pause and the win key at the same time, scroll to the bottom and look at the PID, the 3 digit section for an MSDN key can fall in the following ranges
Ultimate 065, 066, 067 and possibly others
Pro 220, 221 and possibly others
Premium 230, 231, 232 and possibly others, there will be other ranges that will pop up in the future due to the fact that N version keys are starting to show up also.

"What should I do with it? The seller has got back to me offering another MSDN key. I've told him where to stick it."
First of all, that was funny, second keep the two packages separate so you don't confuse them, don't do anything with it for now, EBAY/PAYPAL may require you to return it.
Lastley, pursue your claim.

Hello Mossy111,
Could you do us a big favor?
Would you be able to post up a hi-res side by side digital snapshot of the two CoAs? This forum does not host pix, but you could upload the pix to a free picture host and link to it.
You wrote, "I know that for XP you could send in the disks and they would send you a working key, do they offer this for Windows 7?? I can't find it :("
I have not seen or heard of any plans that Microsoft may have regarding a WGA Complimentary Replacement Offer for Windows 7. They have this for XP and Office 2007, but do not have it for Vista. Judging by the trend of posts here lately, it seems that the counterfeiters are hard at work knocking off W7 full packaged product and using MSDN keys rather than their more traditional Volume Licensing KeyGen Keys. If this surge of counterfeits becomes a tidal wave, maybe Microsoft will start doing a Complimentary replacement for W7, too. Stay tuned...
In the meantime, if you get counterfeit W7 full packaged product, return it to the source ASAP.

Are you sure?? How can it be an MSDN key, I have the proper box and key label?? Are you saying this is an incredibly well made fake?? If that's the case then people have no chance to know what they are getting.
I'll check the other copy, but I got that one from another seller months ago and haven't had any problems with it.

I've just done a very, very, close comparison of the two. There is an ever so slight difference in print quality. The pirate one has a COA, it's got that little strip and everything. The DVD's have the hologram all over, it's just ever so slightly different. WOW, fakes have certainly come a very, very long way, this must be from some organised crime or something. If you guys haven't seen one like this before you are going to want a copy. This explains why I had troubles booting from the CDs.
What should I do with it? The seller has got back to me offering another MSDN key. I've told him where to stick it.

Sorry for the delay, managed to get a genuine key and finished setting up my comp. Ebay is being incredibly slow with regards to getting my money back. I've reported the user and everything but they haven't even got back to me. Now I'm waiting for my cases with them and PayPal...
From that picture you can see the genuine one and the fake one. As you can image, at a glance and without having them side by side it's extremely difficult to tell a fake from a genuine.
