Duplicate detection rule

Question
-
Hi,
We have a duplicate detection rule set named Contacts with the same e-mail address .
We recently migrated contact records from 2 different legacy database and a lot of duplicate
are now in our CRM solution. The thing is that when one saves a record and CRM detects
that this record is a duplicate record, CRM will open the web page dialog - Duplicates detected
window and it will hang there for ever, it simply doesn't do anything. A real nightmare for our users
because we have hundreds of duplicates to take care of. Does anyone have any idea why the
Web Page dialog windows hangs??? ThanksTuesday, June 9, 2009 8:19 AM

Ok. One final suggestion from me. Check if there are any pending system jobs assocaited with the duplicate detection rule. You need to cancel those. You can do this by going to the System jobs area in the Settings section.Once you've cancled the pending jobs you should be able to stop the dup. rule.Hassan.

- Check for Plug-ins that might be causing the application to hang.- Check the event logs for registered errors.Chances are that the issue is caused by custom code deployed on the CRM Server.Hassan.

Ok. This could be because of a plug-in holding resources.I haven't tried this so it may or may not work. Try stopping the Async service and then stopping the workflow.Hassan.

When our crm developer comes in later this week he will look at that.
In the meantime we tried to unpublish (temporarily) the detection rule but when
doing that we get the following message:
The duplicate detection rule is currently being used and cannot be
updated or deleted.
Please try again later.
Is there way to cancel the rule?
