Inconsistent recognition of Action Pack Product Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • During the last month I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on two machines (one an upgrade) and one new installation of Windows 7 Professional.  Everything has been fine for the two Ultimate installlations but Microsoft Security Essentials got very upset about the Professional installatin, reporting it as not a genuine copy.  Eventually I input the installation key and now everything seems fine.  Our copies of Windows are DVDs sent out under the old postal system and have no key printed.

    ....and your question is??

If you have any doubts about the machines, please post MGADiag reports for each (in separate threads please!) and we’ll take a look.
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • Thanks for your reply Noel.  My post was not so much a request for help as an observation of the inconsistent behaviour of two successful registrations against one that was reported invalid.  Now that we have entered the installation key from the Action Pack website all is well, but this was not required for the other two.

Just one of those things.  I have copied your reply so that I know what to do in future.
