Booting after WHS Restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm restoring a Win7 Pro installation using WHS restore.  It restores, but can't boot.  How do I fix this?

  • What are the actual symptoms?

    WHS1 or WHS 2011?

Did you restore to a totally blank HDD (the best option)? Did the backup have all partitions backed up including the System Reserved Partition?

Just guessing as there is little information to go on, but I would try booting from your W7 DVD and doing a system repair to restore the boot files.

  • WHS1.  Original SSD was 80gb w/ primary 100mb recovery partition and ~80gb OS c: partition.  New drive is 160gb having restored primary 100mb recovery partition and restored the OS partition to the new and larger OS C: partition.
