Microsoft Edge accesses local drive file without RuntimeBroker.exe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I was testing Microsoft Edge for how it accesses files from local filesystem, like when user attach some file on email, then RuntimeBroker.exe opens that file and then creates duplicate handle to pass it on to Microsoft Edge for reading. But on one setup of Windows 10 RS2, I am observing in case of folder upload, Microsoft Edge itself open that file and reads the content. While in case of single file upload it is requesting RuntimeBroker.exe for file handle.

This behavior is observed only on one Win10 RS2 machine and not any other machine. So I wanted to ask what might be causing the this behavior, because of which is Edge on that setup behaving like regular desktop application and able to open files directly on its own. I compared manifext.xml file from both the setup and I don't see any difference in that.

    Thanks,

    Bishnu
