the added text for, Vote As Helpful , should be of use, though personally, i think it is too plain and draws attention .
these are some option samples i thought might be of use. ( i love paint.net. ;o)
option 1 option 2 option 3 option 4 option 5 Vote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
Helpful
option a option b option c option d option e Vote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
HelpfulVote As
Helpful
i think that any of those look a lot better and do not seem to draw attention from the text in the reply box .. kind of blend in as their own..
personally, i cannot decide on any of the options.. i like them all, although, option 1, i like most..

Perhaps somewhat handicapped by a few extra squirts of testosterone, I fail to see the difference between any of them. On the other hand, I clearly see the difference between a helpful and/or real answer to a question. My wife dresses me, and she makes me look like Eric Meijer. Somewhat inspired, I'm Dutch too and I like loud shirts. I'll never be as smart as him, but that's what kewl looks like on a technical forum.
Answer a hard question with a good answer. That's what cool looks like to your peers.

Actually, i think trujade has a good point. Between the icon, user's name, medals, and vote as helpful link, there's a lot of color on the left side. The only balnce is the tiny "Report as abuse" which is not enough to center the user's eyesight naturally.
This is not something everyone is conscious of, but it does affect most people. Advertisers know this, which is why so many advertisements are color balanced.
The obvious solution is to move the vote as helpful link back to the right side. It would balance the user's name, somewhat. tjurade gave some options if the vote is not moved, which are interesting but very subjective. Other than option c, the color would still draw attention, even if not as much. option c itself, however, is difficult to read.
I agree with tjurade that it is a slight problem. Though, i suggest it be put back on the right side, especially now that it has all that text.Monday, July 20, 2009 2:26 PM -
alot of good stuff in that reply bjian tkatch, like misspelling my name a few times..
personally, i like the location the vote as helpful has.. keeps all the neat stuff in one place, stuff worth paying attention to.
i hardly ever keep my webbrowser maximized, so the surrounding background, does balance my focus on the posts.. that's just me.
