Connecting Exchange Online Thru powershell with MFA RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I have global admin account in office 365 with MFA. I download from IE and installed the exchange online module in my machine. When I ran this command

    Connect-EXOPSSession -UserPrincipalName shekinah@test.com

    it shows the below error:

New-ExoPSSession : Connecting to remote server outlook.office365.com failed with the following error message : WinRM
cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over
the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer. By
default, the WinRM firewall exception for public profiles limits access to remote computers within the same local
subnet. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.

This question is outside this forum's scope because this is not an end-user Office 365 support forum, unfortunately.

  • Hi Shekinah,

Still looking for a solution? or this might be useful for someone who face the same issue.

This error occurs due to WinRM service not in running state. Start the WinRM service and then enable Basic authentication(This is enabled by default).

    winrm quickconfig

For more troubleshooting tips you can refer Connect-EXOPSSession: Troubleshooting tips.
